American Metaphor Society Creates Storm of Controversy

The American Metaphor Society said today it had seized the bull by the horns and lassoed the beast in an effort to bring down the house.

“A burning sun can’t be doused by water,” said AMS President “Dead as a Doornail” Strawman.  “There’s a lot on our table which a dog howling at the moon would gander in a split second.” The announcement swept through inner circles like a typhoon on steroids, leaving opponents up the creek without a paddle.

For their part, critics said there was too much on the Society’s plate to leapfrog like a May junebug jumping off a hot griddle. That made them suspect there were plenty of other fish in the sea and that the announcement was a recipe for disaster.

Strawman refused to be baited, however, saying the pot was about to bubble and soon they’d all be cooked out of a burning desire for the Rum’s Head Road. “And I mean that literally,” he added.
